About me

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor working with adults, children and young people. I provide a safe, quiet room in Hailsham for face to face counselling. Alternatively I can offer zoom or telephone sessions, or in some individual cases home visits.

I understand that especially in todays world, life can feel like a struggle, with things piling up and feeling unmanageable. Whatever these things are for you personally, having a place to work through the struggle is important. I am a warm, empathic therapist who will provide a compassionate space for you to explore your own thoughts, feelings and circumstances without judgement or interpretation, to find ways to grow and move in a forward direction that is meaningful to you.

I work with an array of different issues which are listed below, however this is not exhaustive.

Work with Children and Young People

I have experience of working with primary and secondary aged children. Younger children often benefit from play-based therapy to find ways to express feelings or thoughts that they may not have the words to describe. Creative and expressive therapy can also be useful for older children and teens, though some may feel more comfortable using talking therapy. Adapting to meet the individual child or young person is how I work, in a caring, nurturing space.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc (Hons) Degree in Person-Centred Counselling
  • FdSc Degree in Person-Centred Counselling
  • Certificate in Solution Focused Brief Therapy with Children and young people
  • Level 2 in Counselling skills

  • Certificates in Safeguarding for Adults, Children and Young People

In addition to private practice I work for the children's mental health Charity, Place2be. This involves providing therapeutic support to children, young people and families within schools.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
