About me

I am an experienced BACP accredited therapist, with over 12 years in the field,  who works with complex issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship issues - using a bespoke blend of EMDR, mindfulness, somatic therapy and IFS to bring a feeling of peace.

During our sessions we will work to understand what’s triggering you, what’s keeping you stuck and what’s stopping you from being who you want to be.  I’ll help you heal old wounds and give you tools and techniques that you can implement in your day-to-day life to help you overcome the difficult hurdles you’re experiencing.

How I work
During our sessions together I’ll use a range of different types of therapy according to what you find the most productive – they will range from:
·      Talking and reflecting so we can learn how you, uniquely, function.
·      Mindfulness and meditations which will help you connect with your body and stay in the present so you can more easily overcome your triggers.
·      Visualisations, which are a type of guided meditation, to help us better understand your unhelpful subconscious drives so you can work to relax them.
·      IFS which is a type of therapy that helps us understand which parts of you are being triggered at what times, so we can get you feeling more in balance.
·      EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is a unique technique that helps heal trauma however big or small.  It works by accessing traumatic memories and then processing them, so they move from being something disabling you still experience in the present, to being a memory that you understand happened in your past, but you don’t have to carry in your daily life any more.

What next?
I totally understand that getting started can often be daunting and overwhelming so be assured that when reaching out, you’re entering a safe and confidential space.  Drop me an email and I will aim to get back you within 24 hours with any availability.

What to expect
In the initial session we will get to know each other and you can explain what brings you to therapy. From there we can decide together, what is the best approach to take and how many sessions we feel might be needed. Most commonly we would start with one session a week for 6 sessions before we review and evaluate progress, then we can explore how you’re finding that process and decide how to proceed.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
