About me
I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience working in the NHS. I have gained experience working with a full range of difficulties from mild to more severe and I offer both short and longer term therapy. I am experienced in working with a range of difficulties including, low mood, anxiety, self esteem and confidence, stress (including with health professionals and therapists), relationship difficulties and trauma. I also offer personal reformulations. I work collaboratively and draw on my experience and range of skills and training to tailor any therapy to the individual.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified in 2003 as a Clinical Psychologist and currently work in the NHS as a Consultant Psychologist and part time in private practice. Since qualifying I have trained in a number of specialist therapy modalities. I am a qualified Cognitive Analytic Therapist and Supervisor, registered with ACAT. I have also completed intensive DBT training, compassion focused training (advanced) and EMDR training. Outside of therapy, I contribute regularly to therapy training, supervision and reflective practice and co-edited a book on reflective practice.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
The Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) is a registered charity. They welcome members of the public, health professionals, ACAT accredited professionals, and anyone interested in finding out more about CAT. They list CAT practitioners.
