About me

Thank you for taking time to look at my profile. It can be quite tiring searching for the right Counsellor and I hope you are able to find what you are looking for here.

Maybe you are here because you had a difficult past? Perhaps your childhood has left you feeling hurt?

When you are around other people maybe you don't feel like you fit in and find yourself overcompensating, or question yourself and wonder what is wrong with you? Are you constantly worrying and find it hard to relax around others?

By offering you a confidential space to talk I hope for you to feel safe to explore your worries and together we can start to develop an understanding of what you need to feel happier, build confidence and grow healthy relationships. Creating a toolbox of coping strategies along the way.

I understand talking to someone can surface worries and provoke unhelpful thoughts such as your difficulties are not as bad as others or you might be judged. However, your difficulties are just as important and valid as anyone else’s and I am here to help you, not to judge you.

If you feel I am somebody you would like to work with please do get in touch by email, text or telephone.

Training, qualifications & experience

My experience has mainly been working with Trauma. When we experience trauma it can often lead to feelings of anxiety, sadness, rejection and not feeling good enough. It can manifest in behaviours such as avoiding or people pleasing.
People often think their traumatic experience is not as bad as others or inconsequential. They look at others experience and judge their own against them. However, just because your traumatic experience doesn't look as bad on the surface that does not mean it is any less traumatic or has less adverse effects.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
