About me

*I am able to offer online counselling or face to face sessions*

I’m Jenny a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have experience of providing support on a range of issues, including, pregnancy, parenting, infertility, depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, anger and addiction.

I offer an exploratory 50-minute session for £25 so you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you. I am able to offer appointments quickly and with flexibility.

More about me and my approach

Having trained at the University of Brighton, I hold a post-graduate diploma in Humanistic Counselling and offer counselling on both a long-term and short -term basis from practice rooms based in Worthing, West Sussex.

Counselling sessions with me provide a safe and confidential space where we can work through the problems you may be facing in your life at your own pace. My approach is empathetic and warm and sessions will be tailored to you as an individual. My aim is to build a relationship with you based on trust, respect and integrity.

During our sessions we can explore your experiences, thoughts and feelings and the meaning that you give to them in a safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and accepted. Together we will work towards developing a greater understanding of yourself and the mechanisms you have developed to cope with your difficulties. This can help you to gain more clarity about yourself and your life which can open up new possibilities for change and growth. During this process, I will support you to evaluate and make decisions about your life and your relationships with others.

Experience

Before setting up my private practice I worked as a part of the student counselling team at Greater Brighton Metropolitan College supporting students with a number of issues. I also previously worked for East Sussex NHS Trust offering counselling support to parents of young children across a variety of issues including: fertility, traumatic childbirth, perinatal mental health, post-natal depression, miscarriage and relationship issues. In addition, I also have 3 years' experience working at a low-cost counselling service based in Southwick.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
