About me

Hi, I'm Jasraj, a dedicated counsellor located in East London. I specialize in supporting individuals facing significant life challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and especially focus on areas such as self-esteem and codependency. If you're navigating through these challenges and seeking guidance and support, I'm here to help. Additionally, my expertise extends to working with clients from diverse backgrounds, emphasising a deep understanding of the intricate aspects of multicultural identities. Whether you're dealing with familial issues, self-identity concerns, or other personal challenges, I offer a warm and empathetic space to explore and overcome these complexities.

What does therapy look like with me?

I am myself in the therapy room and not a person trying hard to be solely a therapist. I truly believe an honest and authentic connection between two people can help cultivate deep healing. You can be completely frank and open with how you feel about bringing your real self to the room, and I will do the same. The key principles that underlay my work are; compassion, non-judgment, presence and teamwork. I am on your side and together we can overcome whatever you're facing right now.

The initial session:

Whether you choose to meet in person or online, the first session will be pretty much the same. Under no pressure at all we can talk about what brings you to therapy, as well as your expectations. This will be collaborative in that it will feel like a normal chat where we work together to reach an agreement on how to best move forward. You can ask any questions at any point and this goes for any session we may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

My most recent qualification, being the Level 4 diploma has given me the experience and know how to work with clients from all walks of life in a way which best aligns with their own unique personalities.

Other experience:

Previously I worked as a business analyst in the city which taught me how to bridge the gap between where you are right now and where you want to be. There are many ways to bridge this gap regardless of what it is you want help with. This knack of looking for solutions coupled with therapy skills results in an orientation that is centered on finding the most effective way to navigate challenges.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
