About me

If you're struggling with anxiety, or unable to move on from difficult life events, you'll know first-hand how this damages your wellbeing and ability to function. There is hope. It's possible to reclaim a sense of direction and to feel at home again in both mind and body.

I have particular expertise in working with anxiety, toxic stress and trauma, and am interested in how the mind and body interact. My aim is to help you better understand yourself and gain coping skills. When you’re freed from distressing anxiety symptoms and patterns from the past, you can regain direction and move forward with what you really want from life.

If you want help to move forward, but are not sure that counselling is quite right for you just now, I also offer a range of other bespoke services which can be adapted to your needs. Do explore these on my website to see if one of these alternative approaches might suit you.

Please contact me to arrange a free 20 minute exploratory consultation. This is a chance for you to ask me any questions you may have and get a sense of whether we are a good fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

Your needs and wishes should always be at the heart of therapy. We will work together holistically, taking into account your circumstances and prior experiences of what’s been helpful (and what to avoid). I am a pluralistically trained counsellor, which provides an ethical framework to draw from different therapeutic approaches according to what is best for you.

If you want help to move forward, but are not sure that talking therapy is quite right for you just now, I also offer a range of other bespoke services which can be adapted to your needs. For example, we might work creatively using art, craft or storytelling; devise a ceremony to help you mark a significant life transition; build a labyrinth, do guided visualisation, or use somatic approaches (body awareness and movement) to help you reconnect body mind and soul.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I want you to feel confident that we are a good fit. I offer a free 20 minute exploratory consultation with me before booking a session. Please feel free to contact me, and I’ll be happy to arrange this with you.

I always reply to enquiries and aim to respond within 24 hours. If you have a preferred method of contact (email / text / phone call), just let me know in your message.

Please check your spam/junk folder in case my email is redirected there.

Sessions are a full hour in length (compared with the usual ‘therapeutic hour’ of 50 minutes). This gives more time for you to fully engage during the session and allows for reflecting and grounding before you return to the rest of your day.

We will have regular reviews (approximately every 6th session) to discuss your progress and consider whether you might benefit from more sessions or are ready to move on by yourself.

Further information

For your comfort and safety, all appointments are currently either by phone or online over a secure video connection.

This gives you the flexibility to choose a location where you feel at ease. Although this way of working became necessary due to the Covid pandemic, many clients have commented that this facilitates their therapy. For example, we might discuss objects that hold significance for you or find coping strategies that you can implement in your home environment.
