About me

Hi,

I'm a mature person who has had years of experience in navigating  the ups and downs of life. I became a counsellor (qualifying in 2014) with a passion to support others through their difficult stage and work out together the journey into a brighter future.

I specialize in anxiety, bereavement, depression, stress and panic attacks.

Therefore  if you feel so anxious that it takes over your life or depression so deep and dark it’s hard to get out of bed then I will support you where you are in that moment and then the next.

Have you experienced bereavement and loss where your grief is so intense you feel confusion, numbness, loneliness, shock and anger?

Sometimes life’s journey takes us into a dark tunnel where we feel lost and can’t find the way out. This is where I meet you, journey beside you and support you through this turbulent time. Together we look at what is holding you back and work out a way forward into a brighter future.

Training, qualifications & experience

My approach

My training is from a Person Centre approach. This is where we focus on what you want to bring into counselling. I facilitate a safe environment which is non-judgmental and confidential where we can explore your challenges, your strengths and your choices to make positive change.

Further study and training have introduced me to other theories and approaches which I have developed into an integrative counselling. I blend and adapt all my training to suit your individual needs. However, if I consider your needs are better suited with someone with other specific qualifications then I will refer you on.

Through my years of practice and training I have become aware of the benefits of Mindfulness. I decided to embark on a Certificate in Christian Mindfulness which I successfully completed in August 2023. I have witnessed the support and effect this has given to people.

My Training Journey

My first introduction to counselling, over 17 years ago, was to study an intensive course to support people with unplanned pregnancies, miscarriages and post-termination distress.

This ignited a passion for further training so I embarked on a four-year course which led to a CPCAB Diploma in therapeutic counselling, this was completed in 2014.

I continued my counselling journey with working with children in schools under the umbrella of Place2Be for nearly three years, developing a passion for creative counselling. This was followed by counselling at bereavement centre where I received in-depth training with City and East London Bereavement Service and participated in excellent Continual Profession Development courses (CPD) gaining skills and knowledge to support the bereft.

I have continued with many CPD courses to further my skills to work creatively and many other fields. I have recently continued my training to be able to counsel online and further my qualifications to be a supervisor for other counsellors.

Going forward, I have a particular interest with ADHD in adults. I am at present studying how to support adults with this condition to succeed in life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
