About me

Hello, I'm Jade, a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

It takes great courage to ask for help, and I understand that it can feel daunting at first when beginning your counselling journey. My aim is always to provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment in which we can explore together any issues that you may be struggling with and find ways for you to move forward.

I work in a way that focuses on building a trusting relationship with clients, in a safe and confidential space. This enables us to work together to shine a light on whatever may be troubling you, helping you to understand these issues more clearly and identify areas that you may wish to focus on.

As a Humanistic counsellor, I believe it is important to support you in developing self-awareness, particularly around thoughts, feelings and behaviours in your life, and the patterns that we can sometimes find ourselves stuck in. Developing awareness in this way can help you to really understand the root causes of any difficulties you may be experiencing, empowering you to make changes to your life that are important to you.

I am also trained in Transactional Analysis, which offers us practical tools and ways of exploring your world, helping you to gain awareness of how you view the world and interact with others. This branch of therapy puts great emphasis on promoting personal growth and change, and is particularly helpful when exploring relationships and how we communicate with others.

I work with adults and children aged 11+. I often work creatively with clients, which can help you to express feelings when it might be difficult to put words to them. This is particularly helpful for young clients, but many adults also enjoy working in this way. However, this isn't for everyone, and it is important that we use the space to work in a way that suits you, and at your pace.

I have a particular interest in working with young people; it is always a privilege to observe the changes young clients can make to their lives with the help of a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to express and explore their world and the many difficulties that young people often struggle with.

I also work with clients who have experienced sexual abuse, working to explore the impact it has had on their lives, supporting them in making positive changes and regaining autonomy over their lives.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
