About me

Do you ever feel like you are not good enough? Are you stuck in a rut? Do you get overwhelmed easily and feel the weight of other's expectations? Are you self-critical or a people pleaser? These are just some of the things we could work together on. Ultimately, I will work with you where you are.

I'm Jacqui and I am a qualified, Integrative therapist. As a member of the BACP I adhere to their ethical framework and my goal is to enable you to feel safe enough to explore your problems in a way that feels right for you. I offer a warm, confidential space for you to heal and work towards living a more fulfilling life on your terms.

Working with low self-esteem, my aim by us working together is for you to feel better about yourself, so that you can become more confident and in control of your life, relationships and the way you would like to live. My hope is that, through reaching a greater self awareness in our trusted, therapeutic relationship, you will be able to make and hold boundaries, say no when you mean no, understand your emotions and how to regulate them and have the confidence to break any negative patterns that no longer work for you. My aim is to enable you to make sense of your difficulties and embrace healthy change, with tools to manage distress and anxiety, becoming more resilient and confident.

Ultimately my hope for you is that you will learn to love yourself, tame your inner critic and live a more peaceful life.

Training, qualifications & experience

My person-centred approach (level 4 Diploma in therapeutic counselling) means that I believe you are the expert in your life and through being really seen and heard, you can lead the way in your therapy. You can develop self-insight and take steps towards becoming the person you really are.

Using my BA (hons) Degree in Theatre Arts I have worked with neurodivergent young people and adults since 2000, using drama as the tool for therapeutic change and to facilitate personal growth. I have also worked as a Role -Player, training health professionals to improve their work with patients, focussing on empathic approaches and communication skills.

I work with adults and have a special interest and professional and personal experience working with neurodivergence. I also work with women in perimenopause or menopause and the physical, mental, and psychological difficulties it can bring. My experience also covers working with grief, loss, depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, and relationship problems.

Reiki, 1st and 2nd Degree; I work using energy for relaxation, healing and spiritual practice.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and have completed training in various disciplines including, Transactional Analysis, 101 course, Menopause Matters, ADHD in the therapy room and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
