About me

Therapy is a challenging but deeply rewarding process. Through therapy, you will develop a greater self-awareness, so that you you can observe yourself, understand yourself and find acceptance. Then, finding your own inner wisdom and resources you can begin to develop new ways forward.

As a humanistic, integrative psychotherapist, I draw on different models, theories and ideas to find what works for you - what's a helpful way in to this process for you. From Psychodynamic Theory I can draw on an understanding of the developmental context of each person and its legacy, from Object Relations Theory I see our need for relationship as primary and central to us. Relational models such as Intersubjective Systems Theory and Dialogical Gestalt help me in using the therapeutic relationship to create a 'safe space' for you to see how you can be responded to, to notice how that impacts you, to recognise what you find helpful and reassuring and what you find difficult or aversive. I draw on newer ideas of understanding the internal parts of people, how these parts influence our choices, interact with each other and can cause inner confusion. I am continually curious - people are always unique and surprising. I am constantly learning, layering up my skills and knowledge from different ideas out in the world and from my clients.

People come to therapy because they feel stuck or lost, because of feelings that are hard to tolerate, because they find themselves in the same situations or relationships over and over, or simply because they feel something isn't right. Some of the issues that respond well to psychotherapy are:

  • Abuse (emotional, physical and sexual)
  • Addiction
  • Anger management
  • Adjusting to new life events or new diagnoses
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Bullying
  • Depression, low mood
  • Eating disorder
  • Identity issues
  • Low confidence, self-esteem
  • Neurodiversity and its associated impact, e.g. identity, regulation, relationships...
  • Post-natal depression
  • PTSD / CPTSD
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Sexuality
  • Shame
  • Stress
  • Suicidal Thoughts
  • Trauma
