About me

Welcome, my name is Hazel.

My aim is to help you with issues that you are facing right now, or to support you to work through past events. I provide a calm, non judgmental and confidential space where you will feel heard and understood, without fear of expectation.

My support will empower you to adapt to new phases in your life and gain a different perspective when facing future challenges.

My approach to counselling is person centred and holistic.  This means exploring your emotional, physical and social, spiritual and cultural well being.  I believe counselling is about more than just mental health.

I offer a free 15 minute telephone call as an opportunity to see how I can help you and discuss what you would like to achieve. I provide face to face, online and telephone counselling and walk and talk therapy in my local nature reserve, as well as home visits.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a volunteer Bereavement counsellor for a local Hospice and have a particular interest in working with loss.  In my experience, I have found that loss comes in many forms - this could be the loss of a significant person, the breakdown of a relationship, issues with identity, physical changes due to ill health/injury, pet bereavement or financial uncertainty, and life transitions.

I have also worked with a range of issues including anxiety and depression, substance abuse and addiction, trauma, relationship/family issues and domestic abuse, as well as bereavement.

I provide long and short-term counselling to adults and young people from the age of 16yrs old.  I am a registered member of the BACP and work within their ethical guidelines.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
