About me

Hi, I'm Felicity, a fully insured, fully clear advanced DBS checked, integrative trained Level 4 (Dip) Counsellor. I am a trauma informed therapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I work with adults offering support in difficult times, or those that come with a variety of emotional struggles including anger, depression, sadness, feeling 'stuck', anxiety or hopelessness which is negatively impacting their relationships, work and life in general. Life in the current climate has seen an increase in those struggling with their mental health which can create feelings of alienation from others, frustration and loneliness. Perhaps it has become impossible to meet your own needs due to placing the needs of others above your own, and a reluctance to say 'no' is leaving you burnt out.

As an integrative therapist I am able to draw upon different approaches to suit your goals of therapy. I offer a safe, nurturing, compassionate and non - judgemental approach and therapeutic space to delicately explore what is negatively impacting your life, explore the difficult emotions and feelings and start to make sense of them.

When we understand why we have developed particular patterns of thinking or behaving, it opens up the opportunity for greater self awareness, allowing you to understand yourself on a much deeper level and make more conscious choices. If now is the time that things feel they need to change and you would like to take the steps towards a more peaceful and fulfilling future, then I invite you to contact me and find out how I can help you.

Sessions can take place in my office in the heart of Canterbury in a warm, welcoming and homely environment, alternatively I offer online video and phone sessions for those who are time limited or travel restricted.

Training, qualifications & experience

I currently hold:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Substance Misuse (RQF)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Anxiety Management - Distinction
  • Safeguarding for Counsellors Level 2
  • Transactional Analysis 101 certificate
  • A clear and current advanced DBS
  • Certificate of Proficiency (BACP)
  • BACP/ Open University 'working online' course

I am currently completing:

  • BSc (Honours) in Psychology, and a student member of the British Psychological Society (BPS)

As a member of the BACP and as a responsible and credible therapist I regularly undertake CPD. This includes developing and building upon my knowledge to focus on more specific areas of difficulties clients may be experiencing. This includes:

  • Working with Borderline Personality Disorder. (BPD)
  • Bereavement
  • Understanding substance misuse (addiction)
  • Working online and by phone
  • Self-esteem
  • Autism and ADHD (Neurodiversity)
  • Fragile Self Process (personality adaptations)

Before working in my private practise I was a volunteer for a counselling service in Canterbury. A service that provides therapy for a variety of clients with a vast range of struggles including mental health issues, depression, stress, anxiety, loss and trauma.

I have particular experience of working with neurodiverse clients, which is coupled with personal lived experience. Providing me with a good level of understanding in the area of Autism/Aspergers specifically. This enables me to offer a supportive and understanding space to those clients who find communicating difficult, confusing and intense, and I offer a variety of ways we can work together that feels less intimidating by utilising art materials and/or visuals if needed to lower anxiety.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
