About me

I am a Person-Centred Therapist. What led me on this path was realising that I needed some clarity in my life and for the longest time I didn't have a voice of my own.

Person Centered therapy helps bring your own feelings to the surface and it gives you a safe space to offload anything you may be carrying. It allows you to explore your own feelings and understand yourself better, leading you to become more self-aware and empowering you to explore your own thoughts and behaviours.

The aim is for you to see that you had the power to work through your difficulties all along, that your opinion matters and that you know what is best for you.

PCT a non-directive therapy, it is about establishing a trusting, genuine, therapeutic relationship where empathy and a non-judgmental approach is offered.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I also volunteer at an independent non-profit- making counselling service in Chorlton, which offers therapy to clients on low or no incomes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Each meeting is 50 minutes long and sessions are carried out on a weekly basis. Sessions cost £40, although concessions can be offered to clients on low incomes, OAPS's, Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Students and Keyworkers. I work with many issues, such as Anxiety, Depression, Self-esteem issues, Stress, Friendship issues, Women’s issues, Trauma, Body dysmorphia, Family issues, Work related issues, Relationship issues, Grief and Self-harm amongst other issues.

Mostly my work with clients has been long term however, I have seen clients for a few sessions and clients have had the autonomy to decide when they were ready to move on.

An initial consultation lasts for about 15 minutes, where we can talk about any issues or needs you may have and you can decide whether I would be the right fit for you going forward. There is no obligation for us to go ahead if it doesn’t feel right for you.

If you have any questions or would like to book in a session with me then contact me on 07444-193-091 or drop me an email.

In the first session I usually go through the contract, going over things like consent, confidentiality, boundaries and privacy. We talk about what you would like to bring to the sessions and what you would like to get out of therapy, so that we know what we are working towards.
