About me

Hello, I'm Emma.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, or noticing the same struggles show up again and again, and you're not sure how to shift things. You might be looking for more ease in your relationships, or hoping to live with a greater sense of freedom, contentment, or self-acceptance.

Perhaps you’re someone who often puts other people’s needs first, and it’s left you unsure of what really matters to you. Or you feel a constant pressure to get things right, to be good or do well, even when it’s exhausting. You might find it hard to relax or switch off; always in your head, second-guessing yourself. Maybe trying to hold everything together, especially around others.

Whatever brings you here, your reasons will be personal to you, and they matter. They might overlap with some of what I’ve described, or they might be entirely different. Either way, I imagine you’ve already been trying, perhaps for a long time, to figure things out on your own, or with the support of people close to you. But sometimes we need a different kind of space. One that’s just for you.

I offer a space where I’ll meet you with curiosity and care, never with judgment. Somewhere you can say the things you haven’t said out loud before. I’m here to offer a relationship that feels safe, grounded, and supportive so we can explore what’s been happening and what might bring more understanding or ease. Our work is a shared process. I won’t pretend to have all the answers, but I’ll be alongside you as we gently make sense of things together and work towards fostering lasting change. Change begins when you feel truly heard and understood.

As we work together, we’ll create room for new possibilities; different ways of seeing things, of being with yourself, and of relating to others.

I know it can be hard to take the first step, especially if you’re feeling unsure, or if part of you isn't even sure therapy can help. That’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out before we begin. We can start from wherever you are.

I’m committed to offering a space that respects and values the full diversity of who we are. I truly believe everyone deserves to feel seen, accepted, and supported—just as we are.

I have particular experience working within the LGBTQIA+ community, and welcome and affirm all genders, sexualities, and relationship styles. I’ve completed additional training and regularly attend a supervision group for therapists supporting gender-diverse clients. I also hold a Master’s degree in Gender, Sexuality and Culture.

I also have a growing interest in working with neurodivergent people, including those who are autistic or have ADHD—whether you have a diagnosis or are just starting to wonder if this might be part of your story. While I don’t claim to be an expert, I’m always learning, and I’m committed to creating a space that’s accessible, respectful, and open to different ways of experiencing the world.

It's important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with; the relationship you have with your therapist is key to getting the most out of therapy. If any of this resonates, we can start by having a free 30-minute chat to help you get a sense of whether we could be a good fit for working together. I look forward to you getting in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a four-year Postgraduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis, or TA for short. What I love about TA is it uses everyday language to make sense of what can sometimes feel really complicated. It gives us a way to get curious together about whether earlier experiences might be playing a part in how things are feeling for you now—even if you’re not fully aware of it. That might show up in how you experience relationships, or how certain situations feel familiar or tricky for you.

I also bring in a trauma-informed approach, using ideas from Polyvagal Theory. That just means we’ll pay attention to how your nervous system might be reacting based on past experiences—why certain things might feel overwhelming, or why you might shut down or go into ‘survival mode’ without meaning to. When we understand what’s going on underneath, it can be easier to find some space and gentleness with ourselves.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
