About me

I'm a fully qualified counsellor, with a warm and compassionate approach. Whatever support you may have around you, it can be helpful to talk to a professional who is not involved in your daily life.

How counselling can help you

There are many reasons for seeking support. Maybe you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or overwhelm. Perhaps you’re feeling lonely, or struggling with relationships. Perhaps it feels like you have lost a sense of choice or direction.

I offer a calm and non-judgemental space where your voice will be heard.

Whatever has brought you to counselling, I can be alongside you as you explore the aspects of your life that are most challenging for you. Perhaps your current circumstances are particularly hard, or perhaps you are dealing with difficulties or traumatic experiences from your past. Together we can look at what is causing you pain, where its roots might lie, and how it is impacting your life right now.

This kind of support can allow you to grow in self-understanding, help you to understand and communicate your needs to others, and enable you to move forwards with a renewed sense of inner strength.

Information about how I work

I currently work both online and in person.

I offer an initial free 20 minute consultation online. This is an opportunity for you to decide if I am the right counsellor for you, and we can discuss what sessions would be like going forwards. There is no obligation to meet again after this consultation.

If you would like to arrange a free consultation, please email me here. In your message, it would be helpful if you let me know the days and times when you are available to meet.

It takes courage to seek support and to reach out in this way. I really encourage you to get in touch if you are interested in the possibility of working together.

What to expect from our sessions

Once we have agreed to work together, I usually suggest that we have six sessions. Towards the end of these sessions, we can discuss whether you would like to continue for a longer period of time or conclude the work.

Each session will be 50 minutes long and will take place at the same time each week.

If we work in person, our sessions will take place at the Barnsbury Therapy Rooms in Islington (N1 1LA), or at The Psychosynthesis Trust at London Bridge (SE1 2TH).

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Tavistock Centre and the Psychosynthesis Trust (both in London), and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

As a member of the BACP, I am bound by the ethical framework and complaints procedures of this professional body. I undertake regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD), which enables me to develop and further my skills.

I have also volunteered with the London-based charity Maytree, which offers residential support for people who are feeling suicidal.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
