About me

1:1 counselling for individuals at a crossroads.

I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor (registered with the BACP) providing individual counselling in-person in York or online/telephone sessions as needed. I work from a person-centred perspective - putting you, the client, at the heart of our work, incorporating creative or other ways of working to suit you.

You might be considering counselling for all sorts of reasons. Perhaps you’ve had a difficult life event, either recently or in the past. Perhaps you can’t pinpoint an event that’s caused you to struggle, but you are sick of feeling the stress, low mood or anxiety that accompanies your days and nights. I offer a non-judgemental, safe, compassionate place for you to release those emotions, and consider the changes you’d like to see in your life.

Recent times tell us in very dramatic ways that we can't control everything in life.  Conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza in particular can cause unremitting anxiety with fears about what may be around the corner.  Then there are those words or events that are much closer to home.

You may be struggling with others' or your own expectations, and reflecting - wondering again about your values and priorities, what really matters to you.  You may feel at a point of crisis or of needing to make changes.  Whatever it may be for you, I provide a safe, brave space for you to show up, exactly as you are, without fear of judgement, so that together we can start to make sense of what’s holding you back from what you really want and need.

If you think you would benefit from some time set aside for you why not get in touch to book an intial call and consider whether counselling might give you the time and space you need?

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

My main focus is providing counselling within my private practice based close to York centre.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
