About me
Imagine what it would be like to have emotional freedom? What if you no longer had to endure stress and anxiety, but instead, be able to experience life through emotional resilience and prioritising your own needs first?
I have supported clients to establish healthy and assertive boundaries with others, as well as to fully appreciate their own value and sense of worth. Counselling is an investment, allowing you to increase self-awareness and develop the skills to manage emotionally challenging situations.
Our sessions will be an opportunity for you to explore the areas of your life that you find the most distressing or challenging. Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, fearful, shameful, conflicted or confused - I will be present with you, supporting your journey of exploration, discovery and empowerment.
My approach involves working collaboratively with you to address any needs or goals that you have in your sessions. This will involve understanding the issues you bring in therapy and where necessary, digging a bit deeper into what avenues there are into overcoming or managing the difficulties you are facing.
Perhaps you have no specific goals and you just want someone to truly listen to you and offer empathy - I will always be guided by what you wish to bring in each session.
Although my practice is not limited to any particular issue, my areas of interest mainly relate to low self-esteem, ‘people-pleasing’, external validation, negative thoughts and challenging perceptions.
If this sounds of interest or if you are unsure where to begin - contact me today.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered therapist with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I also have a degree (BSc) in Psychology and a master's degree (MSc) in Neuroscience.
My counselling qualifications are as follows:
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Theory
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- Certification in Online and Telephone Counselling
In addition to these qualifications, I frequently attend training workshops and seminars to support my professional development as a counsellor.
My counselling experience for an agency based in Croydon allowed me to work with clients from a diverse range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, who presented different issues and hardships causing often severe levels of anxiety and depression.
I have also worked as a counsellor for the NHS Talking Therapies (IAPT) programme. This involved working with clients who experienced a range of unique health challenges, as well as difficult circumstances impacting their mental health including suicidal ideation, severe anxiety, abuse and depression.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
