About me

Difficult life events and experiences, particularly the early ones, impact the way we perceive ourselves and relate to others. They often lead to challenging emotions such as fear, anger, anxiety, guilt, or shame. When the emotions remain unexpressed and unprocessed, they may cause physical symptoms, intrusive thoughts, feelings of incompetence and unworthiness, lack of interest, concentration difficulties, stress, poor boundaries, relationship issues, and so on.

My aim is to hold a safe, containing space where your feelings, needs and desires can be expressed. In this space, by exploring your current experiences, past events, early relationship dynamics, and intergenerational patterns, we begin to uncover your whole, true self, which facilitates a more empowered, connected, fulfilling, and meaningful way of living.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a qualified psychotherapist, I have a Master’s degree in clinical psychology. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics. In addition, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy.

I work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, primarily within the framework of psychodynamic therapy. I also integrate the principles of relational therapy, using the therapeutic relationship as a facilitator of change and growth. When needed, I use EMDR in order to work on processing trauma, coping with anxiety, and establishing internal safety.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
