About me

Starting counselling can be a very daunting and scary prospect. There are many different types of counselling to choose from and it might feel overwhelming knowing where to begin and which counsellor to choose.

I believe the most important factor in an effective counselling outcome comes down to the therapeutic relationship. I can provide a safe space for you to breathe and just be you!

Based in South Essex, I am a warm, open, friendly and qualified counsellor. I enjoy walking in nature with my Labradoodles taking in the fresh air.

Perhaps you are struggling with feelings of stress or anxiety, you may be feeling stuck or confused and overwhelmed. You may be experiencing grief or depression or struggling with your relationships. I will support and accompany you on your journey, you are setting the course.

We all need support from time to time, counselling can provide you with dedicated time and space to be heard increasing your self-awareness and allowing you to see things differently.

Training, qualifications & experience

I predominately use a person centred approach, although may explore the use of other methods if they may be more appropriate. Person Centred therapy basically means that the counselling which I offer is non-directive and I believe that you are able to seek out your own solutions and own goals for your life.

Person centred therapy requires you as the client to ‘take the reins’ in each counselling session and I am there as your counsellor to guide you and be your source of support. I may ask specific questions, use reflection and sometimes challenge you to help you to become more self-aware. I will offer you a non-judgemental and empathic space where we can work together to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours

I have experience supporting clients in the following areas:

Abuse, Addictions, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Life coaching, Loss, Menopause, Personal development, Relationships, Self esteem, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
