About me

I am an experienced registered BACP accredited individual and couples therapist with 25 years of experience.

Many people find themselves facing very difficult personal circumstances and would really welcome a safe caring nurturing space where they can talk in confidence and feel heard and understood.

My person centred practice allows me to work in a flexible creative way, unique for every client. It is my experience as a therapist and my experience of being a client, that when client and therapist are able to engage in a committed authentic trusting accepting therapeutic relationship, clients can feel truly heard and supported in finding their own voice. My aim is to offer this to clients. We are then free to gain clearer insights and understanding for ourselves, helping us to live more meaningful lives and to make better choices for ourselves.

It is my belief that we all have the capacity to change.

Earlier in my life, I spent many years working in the business world, at one period in a busy high pressured press office, amongst other roles. I also have a love of the outdoors, particularly hiking in the Scottish Highlands, (climbing to the top of tall mountains on occasions) and cycling.

I offer counselling for people on a long or short term basis, depending on their requirements.

I can offer sessions in Wymondham and in Norwich.

I have counselled clients, experiencing a wide range of difficulties, which have included the following: depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, work related issues, attachment issues, anxiety, bullying, relationship issues, stress, trauma, loss and change, suicidal thoughts, anger issues, eating disorders.

My practice has easy access for wheelchair users.

Training, qualifications & experience

In 2002, I completed my training as a person centred Psychotherapist on the BACP accredited diploma course at the University of West London.

I am a registered accredited BACP: Psychotherapist and abide by their ethical framework for good practice.

  • 2000 to 20002, I worked as a Psychotherapist at the Women's Centre in Harrow, London.
  • 2003 to 2004, I worked as a Psychotherapist at the Norwich centre, Norwich.
  • 2005 to 2006 then 2008 to 2016, I worked as a Psychotherapist at St Barnabus counselling centre.

I have also been working in private practice as a counsellor.

I am regularly updating my practice by attending training courses across a wide range of issues.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
