Deliana Ianeva, Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (Dip.Couns.), Coach
Hi, my name is Deliana and I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (Dip.Couns.) and Personal Development Coach. I work one-to-one with individuals who may be looking for support to process difficult or intrusive emotions, internal conflict and stuckness, or another psychological challenge.
I believe in everyone's capacity for self-fulfilment and growth, under the right conditions and with the help of a supportive relationship in which we feel seen and safe to be who we really are. I practice with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and appreciation for how daunting it can be sometimes to share with another.
Being able to understand our experiences is an important part of navigating uncertainty and difficult feelings.
My primary working model Transactional Analysis offers a useful framework to explore our emotions and psychological states with empathy and self-respect. It can help us to understand the choices that we make in life and relationships, and how we may get stuck in the same old familiar pattern of unhelpful feelings, thoughts and behaviours. I am particularly interested in the stories that we tell ourselves about our self, our role in relationships, and our place in the world. These stories can sometimes contribute to our feelings of internal conflict and stuckness.
Deep understanding of change and uncertainty - in life, work and relationships
Prior to counselling, I spent many years managing business transformation and change - supporting the people of organisations with complex transition processes and the impact of change. This has given me excellent understanding of both the organisational and individual psychology of change, which I draw on in working with clients who may be going through career change, redundancy, mental health and performance issues at work.
Change is constant and touches on all areas of our lives. In my counselling practice, I work with many individuals who seek support with personal loss and grief, new or ending relationships, and the uncertainty that major life events bring.
Whatever the nature of the change that you are experiencing, I will support you to process what it means for you and the aspects of it that you find most destabilising or daunting. By expanding our thinking about change and releasing some of the tension we feel, new options often emerge and we can find the inner strength to deal with what we find most challenging about change.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (DipCouns) and I hold a Diploma in Personal Development Coaching with the Coaching Academy. In addition to my practice as a Counsellor, I am in the final stages of advanced clinical training as a Psychotherapist (Masters in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy).
I'm experienced in working with a broad range of difficulties including anxiety and overwhelm, stress, depression, relationships, low confidence and self-esteem. I also offer help with mental health in the workplace - managing burnout and stress, confidence and self-esteem, dealing with change.
Alongside my private practice, I work with the mental health charity Mind and a counselling service in South East London.
I am a member of a number of professional bodies – including the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, UK Council for Psychotherapy, International Association of Relational Transactional Analysis – and I abide by their codes of ethics and professional practice.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
