Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (MBACP Reg, Dip Couns), Coach

About me

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (Dip Couns), registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I work with individuals who may be looking for support to work through difficult or intrusive emotions, feelings of internal conflict and stuckness or another psychological challenge.

I believe in everyone's capacity for self-fulfilment, healing and growth with the help of a supportive relationship in which we feel seen and safe to be who we really are.

My approach

Being able to understand our experience, and feel supported in it, is an important part of navigating uncertainty and difficult feelings.  My aim is to offer you a safe and accepting space in which we can explore together whatever is troubling you, helping you to make meaning of it and eventually restore your inner peace.

My working model Transactional Analysis offers a useful framework to explore any challenges that you may be facing, with empathy and self-respect. It is particularly helpful for those wishing to understand areas of difficulty that keep re-emerging and find a way to break unhelpful patterns that may be holding you back.

As a relational therapist, I am interested in how early relationships shape our sense of self and the ways in which we relate with others in our adult lives. I pay attention to the stories that we tell ourselves about our self, our role in relationships and our place in the world. Together, we can explore such narratives in relation to the issues that bring you to therapy.

I approach my therapeutic work with each client as a unique, collaborative process. I adapt my ways of working to your individuality and context, through a process of continuous conversation, as I aim to understand and meet you in your unique experience and needs.

I work with individuals and couples.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (DipCouns) and I hold a Diploma in Personal Development Coaching from the Coaching Academy.  I am in the final stages of completing advanced clinical training as a Psychotherapist at a MSc level.

I'm experienced in working with a broad range of difficulties including anxiety and overwhelm, stress, depression, relationships, confidence and self-esteem. I have practiced across diverse settings including the charity sector and the NHS. Alongside running my private practice, I have worked with the mental health organisation Mind and a complex trauma and PTSD service in the NHS.

I am a member of several professional bodies – including the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, UK Council for Psychotherapy, International Association of Relational Transactional Analysis – and I abide by their codes of ethics and professional practice.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
