About me

Do you feel that you are struggling with emotions, or that they are 'all on top of you', or you would like to untangle your emotions relating to things that have happened in the past with someone who can listen, ask the relevant questions and help you make sense of them in a warm and confidential environment, then please reach out.

Seeking support when life feels hard can be overwhelming. But by reaching out, you have taken the first step. Counselling can help you better understand the changes happening in your life, explore what is important to you, and support you in better communicating your needs to those around you. It can enable you to explore how you can come to sense of acceptance and become more confident with your life choices. In our counselling sessions, you talk, I listen and together we enable changes to your life.

Talking to someone who will ask the right questions to enable you to find the best answers for you with no judgement, you are free to explore the reasons why you have come to counselling and will be supported in finding your own solutions and a way forward that feels right and appropriate for you.

I have a background working with young people and adults, along-side my private practice. I work for a local charity, Youth Concern, in Aylesbury with young people aged 13-25. My experience working within Youth Concern has enabled me to develop my understanding and skills in risk management relating to depression, anxiety, and suicide ideation. I support people with a range of issues including, life changes and loss, work or exam stresses, sexual/physical health issues, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, anger management and family or relationship problems.

I also volunteered with MIND counselling adults with a wide range of presentations from anxiety to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
