About me

I am an integrative counsellor and counselling tutor trained in psychodynamic, person-centred and CBT approaches. I offer both short and long-term counselling to adults in the form of face to face, online, phone and ‘walk & talk' sessions.  Using an integrative approach enables me, with my knowledge and experience, to adapt my therapeutic model to suit my client's needs, enabling change in the most beneficial way possible.

I work collaboratively with my clients, emphasizing the exploration of unconscious processes and the impact of early life experiences on current thoughts and behaviours. Through a collaborative and empathetic therapeutic relationship, I help clients uncover and understand patterns that may be contributing to their challenges, enabling them to make meaningful and lasting changes. Through self-reflection and increased awareness, clients gain insights that empower them to make positive changes and achieve a deeper understanding of themselves.

Underpinning all my therapeutic work is the knowledge that it is ultimately the quality of the relationship between client and therapist - that's you and me - that heals.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a master’s degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton, London.

I have considerable experience working in men’s prisons, dealing with a range of issues such as anxiety, addiction, anger, stigmatism, neurodivergence, self-harm and trauma.

As well as independent practice I also have experience working within agencies such as Buckinghamshire Mind and am currently a lecturer and counselling trainer working with adult students, with a diverse range of abilities and needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer a free, 20-minute phone/zoom consultation, and you are welcome to contact me by phone or email to arrange this. Both are completely confidential. It gives me the opportunity to hear something of what has brought you in to counselling and it also gives you the chance to get an idea of how I work and whether this might be right for you.

If we decide to continue the conversation, we can meet for a face-to-face discussion in my consulting room (or online) for 50 minutes. This will give us more time to think about how your problems developed and how those experiences may be influencing your life today. If you decide to continue with counselling, we would then arrange to meet once weekly, on the same day at the same time. We can work to an agreed number of sessions (short-term) or we can work for longer (long-term). This can be reviewed at any time.
