About me

Welcome to my listing, I hope you find the information below supports your next step with whatever challenges bring you here today.

I'll start with a little info on me. My name is Clare and I am trained in the Person-Centred Approach and have many years of clinical practice as a Trauma Therapist working for a Scottish Trauma organisation providing trauma-informed counselling for survivors of abuse trauma and complex childhood trauma.

As a Yoga & Meditation teacher, I can provide the option to include targeted yogic/meditation practices within the scope of our work. If the spiritual/religious aspect of your life is an emerging or important part of your therapeutic journey we can work to include a more spiritually informed in-session experience.

I bring specific and targeted support for those experiencing relational/marital/spousal/partnership challenges. In our current climate relationship dynamics to self and others are emerging at the core of many of our deepest struggles.

As humans, we are undergoing radical shifts in the way we connect and relate in terms of building healthy conditions for growth and support in our friendships, families and romantic connections. My clinical work reflects this by providing support at the leading edge of our rapidly changing relationship paradigms. My work is informed by depth psychology and the influence of masculine and feminine energies within our most important relationships and connections.

Regardless of what brings you to our therapeutic work, we will always aim to honour and empower your most authentic self to live a more satisfying life, aligned with your specific values and needs to provide a deeper sense of wholeness in your approach to daily life and its challenges.

More broadly I love to work creatively and collaboratively with my clients to deliver a therapeutic process that reflects your full potential, delivering a therapeutic process unique to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MA in Philosophy & Psychology from Edinburgh University and both a PgCert & PgDIP in Counselling Psychotherapy from Strathclyde University.

I have completed additional CPD in Ester Perel's Transformative Approach to Couples Therapy in Action, Gabor Mate's Compassionate Inquiry for Healing Deep Traumatic Wounds & Bessel Van Der Kolks Intensive Trauma Treatment for How The Body Keeps the Score. I have additionally completed CPD in Neuroscience & Yoga in the Treatment of Trauma with Mind/Body interventions for Attachment, Mood & Self-Regulation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I work within a psycho-spiritual framework, bringing compassionate curiosity to our work in an open-hearted, intuitive and empathic way. Each session together will provide a non-judgemental space to attain deeper self-inquiry and integrated insights on your personal transformational journey.

Our initial session is free and provides up to 30 minutes for both of us to explore your needs and expectations and gives an open, warm and unconditional space to bring any questions or curiosities you might have about your current challenges and what working together might look like for us.
