About me

I am a professionally qualified counsellor based in Twickenham, Greater London. I work with a wide range of people and issues. I aim to support you to feel comfortable to explore what is going on in your life, in the safety of a trusted, warm therapeutic relationship. Together we will look at how to approach day-to-day issues, explore what may have caused them, and work on creating the life you want.

I aim to offer a balance between understanding what has caused certain difficulties or ways of being - enough to gain insight, reassurance and often liberation - and looking at how you want to be in the present, here and now, in your life.

Having a space that is just for you, that is totally confidential, can be life-changing.

I offer short-term and longer open-ended one-to-one therapy for adults online and in person.

Making a first call to a therapist – whether you are new to therapy or have previous experience – can be daunting. Feel free to contact me by phone or email for an initial conversation with no commitment needed. All enquiries will be confidential.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my professional counselling training at Metanoia Institute, a highly-respected training institute accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I hold a diploma in Person Centred Counselling from Metanoia and a BA (Hons) degree in Person Centred Counselling from Middlesex University.

I am a registered member of BACP and a member of the Person-Centred Association.

I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and fulfil BACP requirements for ongoing supervision and continuing professional development.

I have worked in the NHS, for non-profits and now mainly work in private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Taking the first step to contact a counsellor and make an appointment can feel daunting. Feel free to call or email me - I'm happy to answer any questions.

The first meeting is an introductory session – there is no commitment on your part. We will explore whatever is bringing you to counselling, any questions you may have and I’ll explain how I work.

At the end of the session, you can decide if you want to continue, or you can have a think about it. If we’re going to work together, we usually agree to an initial number of sessions and then review. You might decide you want to come for just a few sessions, or you may want something longer-term. It’s completely up to you. Most people initially come to counselling every week.
