About me

Who am I?

Hello, I'm Claire,  a compassionate and approachable therapist offering face to face and online sessions. I am here to offer a grounded, safe, and authentic space for you to be seen and heard. My practice is integrative using person centred and psychodynamic approaches. I will meet you where you are in your life, and I deeply value the trust and connection built with my clients within the therapeutic relationship.

I am inclusive and have worked with a diverse community of people of  backgrounds and cultures. All are welcome here.

How can I help?

Sometimes life contains painful experiences. If you are feeling a variety of emotions such as anxiety, overwhelm, sadness, emotional pain, low self esteem or experiences from trauma, I can work with you by helping you explore your experiences, feelings and insights. This can offer a deeper understanding of yourself with bringing about your own sense of empowerment to move towards living your life with positive change. This will be at your own pace for you to feel emotionally safe.

What is my experience?

Running a Private Practice I work with a wide variety of clients and issues including trauma, depression, anxiety, self esteem, discrimination, relationship & family, childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault. I have worked alongside survivors of abuse in a sexual abuse support centre. I also work with an agency providing therapy to clients working in international schools.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an Integrative Counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy working therapeutically with adults online.

I work with a combination of person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. In brief, I offer a client-centred therapeutic relationship with an empathetic, non-judgmental, honest and collaborative approach to working with you. This also involves thinking about and exploring how your past impacts your current lived experience.

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling CPCAB
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies CPCAB
  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills CPCAB
  • BA (Hons) Cultural Studies Staffordshire University
  • MA International Relations University of Reading

I am trained in the Phase Orientated Trauma Model for survivors of sexual abuse and violence. Working in this phased approach enables the work to be at a safe pace, putting the wellbeing of the client first.

Next steps...

I offer a free 15 minute phone or video call where I can answer any questions you may have, provide more information on how I work and gain an understanding of what you would like from therapy. Please email me to arrange a suitable time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
