About me

I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor. I am warm and friendly and provide a confidential space without judgment to listen to whatever is troubling you, whether it’s from the past, present or future. Life can present us with many challenges, and sometimes we need some extra support to help us find our way through.

Counselling can be transformative, helping to resolve issues, improve relationships, and develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and confidence. I would work with you at your pace to explore your world and work through the emotions, difficulties, or changes you are experiencing. I aim to help you utilise your strengths and find strategies and tools that will benefit you in the short term and in the future.

I have taken extensive training in understanding the physiological changes experienced in the body during anxiety, depression, and trauma. Understanding the mind body link in mental health can be key to taking back control, reducing symptoms and being able to live our best lives.

I recognise that everyone is unique, and my integrative approach is tailored to suit your individual needs and supported by my training and experience of three counselling models. I can work on either a short- or long-term basis depending on what is required.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

  • Former volunteer counsellor at the Hummingbird Cancer support centre supporting people affected by cancer including terminal illness and bereavement
  • Former volunteer counsellor at Nais House suicide and self-harm prevention and mental health service for ages 16-30

I work particularly well with people who are experiencing anxiety and depression, or who are experiencing feelings of never being good enough, perfectionism and issues within relationships. I have taken regular additional training to develop my knowledge and skills. This includes Compassion Focused Therapy, Working with the Inner Child and incorporating CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) techniques into my practice. These skills enables me to work holistically with you offering maximum potential for positive change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
