About me

My practise is about understanding what I’ve learnt personally and professionally and supporting others to understand how they feel and how they can heal. I work with you to bring about the changes you are seeking.

Our work together focusses on you- and your needs (or your child's) - I will adapt and change my practise depending on what you bring to the session. I can use different theories to help support different issues and concerns.

I love working with adults and young people and I am a trained specialist in both areas. I spent 10 years working in education before facing my own personal challenges which lead me to discover the impact of therapy and re-train.

I’m passionate about supporting people and encourage you, or the children you care for, to find confidence again in dealing with the complexities of life: such as loss, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.

As a counsellor, I would describe myself as: kind, warm, compassionate, patient, purposeful, creative, challenging, reflective, intuitive, honest, and real. I also like to think I have a sense of humour.

If you’re starting to get a sense of me and my practise, please read on for more information.

My Work with Adults

My work with adults is varied and suits your needs - I have much experience and training in bereavement and loss and in re-building ‘the self’ after difficult life experiences. I offer a compassionate and warm approach with appropriate challenge- I want your counselling experience to feel both comforting and purposeful to help you see how you can feel better. I can be creative in my approach if this suits you and I will let you set the pace.

My Work with Young People

My work with children and young people is about enabling young people to see they can feel better and heal. I offer a safe space where children and teenagers can speak freely without judgement and explore issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, family conflict, relationship/friendship issues, loss, exam stress/school pressure, self harm, and self esteem. I often work creatively with young people as they can appreciate the sense of purpose a creative session can bring.

More About Me –

I have counselled in hospices, schools, supporting GP practices and worked as a coach for private companies.

I’m a flexible practitioner as a result of my integrative training. I will listen to your needs and tailor the therapy to help you.

I love working and connecting with people and work hard to create a safe and comforting space for you to experience.

I split my time and work from home in my designated therapy room in Frodsham or at Forest Hill Practice in the centre of Tarporley.

I love animals and have a dog and 2 cats – if working from my home therapy office you may well see one of the cats on your way in (rest assured, animals aren’t in the therapy space or a distraction!)

I like to think I demonstrate a ‘human’ approach to therapy and clients leave our work feeling heard and accepted.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I may not be able to answer telephone enquiries during the day if with clients, but please leave me a message, send a text or an email and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Further information

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation where you can decide if we'd be a good fit for therapy before committing to a session.

I work in both Frodsham and Tarporley.

In Frodsham I have my own Therapy Room (off my home) with direct private access - there is also access to a toilet in the main house if needed.

In Tarporley, I work from a large private therapy room at Forest Hill Practice in the village. Here they offer a reception, a waiting area and on site toilets.  This is a discreet practice and not on the main street in the village (just around the corner).
