About me

I provide counselling in person and online to people from all walks of life and age groups. I support clients in making positive changes, building resilience and achieving personal growth.

Counselling can assist us with the problems we encounter in life and can help us overcome self-destructive attitudes and behaviour. As a therapist, I seek to provide a comfortable, safe and confidential space where thoughts and feelings can be explored and worked through. This talking therapy can help my clients find a more constructive way of living and through this gain a stronger sense of inner fulfilment.

I trained as an integrative humanist counsellor. This approach enables me to draw on several counselling theories which means that I am able to respond flexibly to each client’s specific situation and needs.

My past clients have brought a wide range of issues to their counselling sessions, including the following:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Anger issues
  • Bereavement
  • Loss
  • Trauma (including childhood trauma)
  • Abuse (emotional, physical, sexual)
  • Relationship problems (including romantic, family, friends and colleagues)
  • Identity and gender issues
  • Low self esteem
  • Life crises
  • Problems in the workplace
  • Isolation
  • Work and money related stress
  • Physical illness

Counselling can be either short term (typically 6-12 weeks) or longer term depending on the nature of the requirements.

The decision whether or not to go ahead is based on an initial, mutual assessment session. This gives me a chance to see whether or not I believe I am an appropriate person to help you and it gives you a chance to determine whether I am someone you feel comfortable enough to work with. This initial assessment is free of charge.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
