About me
Find healing through art therapy with Heart Psychotherapy. With a background in primary teaching and a profound understanding of the transformative power of art therapy, I offer a safe, confidential and nurturing space both in person and online for children, young people and adults, to find their voice and heal without the need for words.
Art therapy is a unique form of therapy in that it can bypass words, when words feel too painful to express. You do not require any skill or experience in art making to benefit from it - it is about the process as opposed to the product. In some sessions you may not wish to make art which is totally fine - I am led by you.
I support clients who are struggling with a number of different issues, including:
- Bereavement
- Neurodivergent diagnosis
- Self harm
- Suicidal thoughts
- Stress and anxiety
- Low mood or depression
- Domestic abuse
- Gender identity
- Bullying
- Disordered eating
- Drug or alcohol addiction
- Trauma
Visit my website today and get in touch via the 'Contact' section. I’m here to walk alongside you, whilst you navigate your path to feeling better.

I have extensive experience of supporting children and young people with their mental and emotional wellbeing both as an art therapist and a primary teacher. Since commencing study as an art therapist in 2019 I have gained experience in working therapeutically in the third sector, the NHS (CAMHS inpatient psychiatric care) and more recently as the founding director of Heart Psychotherapy. I work with clients of all ages, from the very early years through to the elderly. Since launching Heart Psychotherapy in 2022 almost one third of the clients I have supported have had a diagnosis of ASD and/or ADHD.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Further information
I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the individual needs of my clients. As part of my practice, I use a range of approaches, including:
Psychodynamic: I provide a non-judgemental, safe, and supportive environment for the creative process to take place, helping clients to feel held. I offer an opportunity for clients to make art to bring the unconscious mind into the conscious. This can help clients to identify deep-rooted feelings and work to resolve them.
Psychoeducation: many of the clients I work with, seek practical, evidence-based psychoeducational tools to help maintain positive mental wellbeing. As part of my practice with young people in particular, I often work with clients to explore strategies that may prove useful for them, for example tricks and tips on how to manage anxiety perhaps via the use of art making, journaling, meditation, mindfulness, wellbeing apps and such.
Mentalisation: mentalisation-based therapy (MBT) refers to the ability to think about thinking. It is an approach that helps us to make sense of our thoughts and feelings as well as those around us and how this impacts on actions and behaviours. Mentalising is something that we often do as part of everyday life but in some situations, clients can find it more difficult to mentalise than in others. I use a variety of mentalisation techniques with clients often via art making, to help clients make sense of the world around them.
Play: I provide younger clients with an opportunity to use art materials freely, as well as the sand tray, doll’s house, small world items, games etc. Observing their process allows me to interpret their play as a product of their inner world.
