About me
I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist with over 15yrs of experience. My approach is individually tailored to help you expand and grow in self-awareness, build on inner strength and utilise your own unique resources with the view to promote a greater sense of inner freedom and psychological growth.
In sessions we work together to build on insight and understanding of what is underlying the challenges that bring you to therapy. We look at what is causing you difficulty and how this is impacting on your life and well-being. We may explore implementing alternative ways of being that are more in tune with your truth and who you are in your nature.
More indepth psychotherapy would involve looking back at your past history with the view to gain more insight into how your past life experiences might be informing your current difficulties and impacting on your relationships. We would also be looking into and exploring any patterns in relationships dynamics and making sense of your own responses and behaviours.
You may find that having someone unbiased to talk to about your experiences helps to clarify and aids to uncover and piece together aspects of your ways of being that form a bigger picture and impact on various areas of your personal and professional life.
I like to work combining mind, body and spirit by bringing together mindfulness, inquiry into experience of felt sense and use of imagery when appropriate to facilitate a more wholesome holding. We attend to what emerges in the present moment, paying attention to the immediate experience and the dynamic of therapeutic relationship.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) attaining the below listed UKCP accredited professional qualifications:
- Advanced Psychotherapy Diploma 2017 - 2018
- Essentials of Dreamwork certificates 2015 -2016
- Diploma in Counselling in Psychotherapy 2002 - 2006
- Certificate in Foundations to Counselling and Psychotherapy 2001
Furthermore I am also an accredited Counselling for Depression counsellor and have completed an IAPT approved training in 2015 attaining the CfD Counsellor Certificate of Competence. This has lead to an opportunity to work within the NHS mental health sector facilitating a considerable wealth of experience offering treatment to patients on referral from the Well-being service north of London. I have over 6 years of experience working in that role in a practice based in Hertfordshire as part of the Counselling Foundation AQP provision.
My experience spans over 15 years working in variety of settings and with a wide range of psychological, emotional and mental health problems.
Areas of my work include depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, trauma, ill health, life changes, mid-life crises, relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, recovery from addictions, emotional and psychological abuse, just to name a few..
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
