About me

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor. I believe that we all have the ability to feel confident and at ease with who we are; this is a key contributor to the experience of greater autonomy and feelings of inner wellbeing and positivity. I have experience working with Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement and Trauma. Including adult survivors of childhood related issues of neglect and abuse.

Sometimes life can feel difficult and confusing. We can get stuck in repetitive patterns of behaviour and relationships. Feelings can be overwhelming and in times of difficulty we can withdraw from others and become isolated and alone in our experience.

I offer a safe and respectful environment to share feelings and explore thoughts; helping you to discover a deeper awareness and offering the support and techniques required to move forward in life. My focus is on building a supportive working alliance that will helps us to discover together with curiosity, compassion and kindness.

I have an interest in diversity and the many ways we can be made to feel different and alienated from others, sometimes even in our own family system. Feeling unseen, misunderstood and confused are symptoms of the need to belong, feel safe and accepted for who we are.

If you would like to know more or start counselling please send me an email, or call. If I am unable to answer the call there is a voicemail service which will be treated as confidential and only accessed by me. The first thing will be to see if there are mutual times and days available and then I offer an initial 30 minute phone consultation (free of charge for individuals) to discuss what brings you to counselling. If you decide that you would like to start counselling we will meet weekly for 60 minutes, at the agreed time. Some people want to know themselves better whilst others want to make changes in their life, so the number of sessions and the results you would like to see, will be unique to you as an individual and something we will continue to evaluate as we go along.

For couples counselling I offer an initial consultation via zoom, or in person; it is better for both of you to be present for the initial 60 minute consultation and a 50% charge applies. If you are happy to proceed we will meet weekly for an hour. I recommend four sessions (following the initial consultation) as a starting frame with an evaluation process in the final session, and the opportunity for further sessions if you both feel it is needed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied at Metanoia institute in west London. Metanoia is one of the leading training providers in counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.

I have a qualification (Postgraduate Diploma) in psychotherapeutic counselling and I am registered with UKATA, IARTA, UKCP and BACP.

I am currently studying towards an MSc with Middlesex University to become a Certified Transactional Analyst.

I believe the most important qualification is experience so I attend personal therapy and various CPD (continued professional development) courses alongside my private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
