About me

Hello. Welcome to your first brave step to a good life and answers to all your questions. You want to know if I can help you, so let's connect.

I have been counselling, teaching counselling in further education, and practicing clinical supervision since 2010. My background is in the South African military and British Policing, with primary and secondary school education in 4 countries.

I work mostly with stress, anxiety, depression, and bereavement. ADHD and Autism are my most familiar professional experiences, whether or not your diagnosis is self, private, or NHS. Personality disorders like NPD, BPD, and DID are familiar experiences in my field.

Recovery from narcissistic abuse is on the rise as it becomes increasingly understood by survivors, or those who have left a toxic relationship and are processing their feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Bipolar 1 and 2, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), sexuality, separation and divorce, and addictions... anyone who feels overwhelmed and wants to tell their story is welcome.

You can heal from anything if you can talk freely for an hour, once a week. You may even discover that you don't want to heal, but at least that will reveal itself and be acceptable to you, rather than a problem. You lead the way, and sometimes, if you need to or you ask, I'll signpost.  Connection is what it's all about, having a cheerleader in your corner who can relate to you and 'get it'. Because you're in control you can pause, take a break, change to fortnightly, whatever you like.

You might want to do one of two things:

1. Tell your story and not know what to do.

2. You might know exactly what you want to do, but check it out first in a confidential setting, say it out loud and see if it rings as your truth.

We can do both of those. Even if you come for 1 session to see what it's like and afterwards try my colleagues to compare - that's good.

Why is my fee of £20 half the standard rate? Because I want to make counselling accessible and affordable for EVERYONE, and I feel strongly about equity and equality. I have never liked the idea that someone might need help and not get it because it's too expensive.

Post-traumatic Growth (PTG) in counselling is a great theory and I see the evidence unfold every day. It can manifest in several areas, including:

 1. Personal Strength: Developing a stronger sense of resilience and self-efficacy.

2. New Possibilities: Discovering new opportunities and perspectives in life.

3. Stronger Relationships: Building deeper and more meaningful connections with others.

 4. Appreciation of Life: Developing a greater appreciation for the simple things in life.

5. Spiritual Change: Experiencing a shift in one's beliefs and values.

Finally - the concept of 'Flow' in therapy will reveal itself as an integral part of the healing process and deepening trust, rapport, and empathy.

I also abide by the National Counselling Society's Code of Ethical Practice and the British Psychological Society's Code of Ethics and Conduct. I have Public Liability and Personal Indemnity insurance, and pursue daily continued professional development (CPD).

Thank you for reading.
