About me

Hello, I'm Amy. I am a qualified, experienced Counsellor who can offer a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space to listen to you through online counselling ( Age 16+).

I started my training in 2007, and have 17 years experience counselling young people and adults about a variety of emotions and life events, with 13 of those as a qualified Counsellor. I have worked within a GP Practice, a counselling charity and for 7 years as a Counsellor within an NHS Health and Wellbeing service for young people. The majority of my counselling work has been in the areas of depression, anxiety, anger, bereavement and self-esteem. (Please see below profile for more information on the different emotions/life events I can offer counselling for).

I work within a Person-Centred approach, tailored for you. This means that I will see you as an equal, accept you as who you are and listen without judgement. With you, I will gain an understanding of your world and together we will explore how you are feeling. Alongside talking, this can be done in different ways such as timelines and pictures or if you wanted to share, for example, song lyrics or a book that means something to you.

The approach I offer can help you to feel heard and allows you to express your emotions. This in turn can increase your self awareness and together we can explore strategies to support you in your life.

Based inbetween Dundee and Perth I offer online sessions. Online counselling offers the flexibilty to provide counselling to people across the UK.

I offer a free phone consultation if you would like more information or have any questions about counselling.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
