BSc (Hons), HCPC OT, BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist

About me

Hello, I’m Amanda, a qualified and BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, and an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist, with almost 20 years of experience. I’m also trained and experienced in providing clinical supervision.

Do you feel like you’re never doing enough—even when you’re doing everything? You might be outwardly successful but inwardly anxious, stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, and pressure to meet impossibly high standards. You may find it hard to say no, always prioritising others, while silently questioning your own worth.

I help people who struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. Many of my clients are high achievers who believe their success depends on being hard on themselves—but the cost is often exhaustion, burnout, and feeling like an imposter.

I use evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you break these patterns. We’ll work together to understand how your thoughts and behaviours interact, identify what’s keeping you stuck, and develop healthier, more compassionate ways of thinking and responding. My approach is supportive, structured, and focused on helping you build long-term tools for change.

I offer both online and in-person therapy from my private practice in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.

What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for a wide range of emotional and mental health issues.

CBT helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected – and how unhelpful patterns can keep you stuck. By learning to notice and challenge these patterns, you can develop more balanced ways of thinking and responding to life’s challenges.

CBT is present-focused and goal-oriented. You’ll learn tools and techniques to help manage difficulties more effectively – not just during therapy, but long after it ends.

CBT can help with:

Low mood and depression
Anxiety and excessive worry
Panic attacks
Social anxiety
Health anxiety
Low self-esteem
Stress and burnout
Specific phobias
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
Post-traumatic stress

If you’re unsure whether CBT is right for you, I provide a free 15-minute consultation (online or in person) to answer any questions and see if we’re a good fit.

I’m also a recognized provider with AXA, Aviva, BUPA and Nuffield.

Let’s Take the First Step Together
If you’re ready to start feeling better, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to arrange your consultation—no pressure, just a friendly chat about how I can help. Lets work together to help you feel more like you again.
