About me

Hi,

Are you experiencing the symptoms of anxiety or depression? Perhaps you are dealing with a bereavement or struggling with other significant events in your life such as abuse, menopause or the end of a relationship?

“How counselling can help”

The above are just a few examples of issues that can affect us in many different ways, leaving us with a range of emotions including a sense of hopelessness, low mood, fear, confusion or just of feeling “stuck.” For some, physical as well as mental health can also be affected.

Counselling can help you to explore and gain a different perspective of what may be troubling you and causing emotional pain or discomfort.

“What to expect in our sessions”

In our sessions, which can be either face to face or online, my approach is one of warmth, empathy and a balance of support and gentle challenge. By listening, without judgement, I aim to empower you to create lasting, positive change in your life.

My practice is based on a humanistic approach and depending on your specific needs, together, we can explore a range of ways to help you to make sense of whatever it is that you are facing and navigate change.

I can offer both short term directive support such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or long-term support using more creative approaches such as Gestalt Therapy.  Whatever you needs I will be guided by you to ensure that we find the best approach for you.

I understand that taking that first step to counselling can be daunting, which is why I offer an initial 30-minute telephone consultation without charge or obligation.  This will provide you the opportunity to ask me questions or  share any concerns that you may have to better understand how we may be able to work together.

My goal is to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and take the first steps towards healing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
