About me
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a well researched, evidence based model of intervention for a range of different mental health difficulties.
Effective CBT therapy helps people to firstly make some sense of their issues from a new informed perspective, and secondly to learn skills (psychological and practical) for moving things forward.
I strongly advocate the CBT approach to wellbeing and promote this form of therapy more as a Personal Development Programme, because therapy can take you beyond merely fixing a presenting problem or diagnosis in isolation. My years of experience working with clients has strengthened my confidence (and theirs) in just how comprehensively effective CBT support and application can be.
My own secondary goal in therapy is therefore to teach others about how the mind works and so the learning format is designed to be engaging, interesting, accessible, informative, insightful as well as successful. No pressure, but it works!

I have 16 years experience working as a CBT trained therapist and have been accredited with the BACP for over 10 years. I initially completed full CBT training post-degree in 2009 (2 years Diploma CBT Model) and continue to undertake professional development training in line with professional requirements. I have significant experience helping people overcome issues with Anxiety and Depression, PTSD, Bereavement, Anger Management, Emotional Abuse, Health Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, General Anxiety, Stress, Confidence/Assertiveness issues, Relationship issues, Complex Loss/Bereavement.
I work from my own private office in South Manchester offering face to face therapy primarily, with the option of on-line sessions when required. I have also been retained by a international organisation for 10 years working as an in-house therapist offering comprehensive mental health support in the work place.
In the past I provided CBT therapy in a private Medical Centre in Manchester City Centre for over 8 years and piloted a CBT service independently for a local GP practice in North Manchester, providing local community based mental health services to members of this community for a duration of 12 months.
I have worked with people from many different professional backgrounds including the medical profession, teaching profession, legal profession and business profession, students, young adults, Mums and Dads, all of whom have given me significant insights, knowledge and skills to help my clients recover psychological well being and confidence.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
