About me

Hello, and welcome.

I am Abigail Bobb-Semple, and I am a qualified person-centred counsellor working in private practice in Harlow, Essex.

How Counselling Can Help

Many people find themselves needing help to recover from a difficult experience or series of events in their lives.

Sometimes you can feel emotionally lost or alone, as you struggle to make sense of what’s happened (or in some cases, what hasn't happened) in your life.

When significant relationships around you are not as you would wish them to be, it can shake your confidence, and create self-doubt.

You may want to explore your thoughts and feelings, with a view to gaining greater self-awareness, an understanding of what you need, or a clearer picture of how to arrive at what is best for you.

If you struggle with a sense of "voicelessness", powerlessness and isolation, I can help you on your journey.

In this difficult season brought about by the impact of COVID-19, I would like to offer support via phone or video-call.

As soon as I am able to resume face-to-face sessions, I will do so.

What happens in sessions

As a person-centred counsellor, in your sessions, I offer you the understanding, acceptance, transparency and safety needed to explore what matters most to your well-being.

This means that in the sessions, I will be focussing on your concerns, and on how you are experiencing life. I will be walking alongside you, respectfully, at your pace, aiming to see your life through your lenses.

I will be listening to you, (which will encompass more than the words you'll speak) with warmth and empathy, in a non-judgemental way, offering honesty and openness in the therapeutic relationship, with a view to supporting you towards your natural self-healing process.

I provide a safe confidential environment for you to access what you need in order to move on as you would wish.

A counselling journey towards better health

I have counselling experience that includes working with adults who have experienced abuse as children, those struggling with stress, anxiety, bereavement, depression, low-self esteem, and many other issues.

I firmly believe that counselling support can make a notable difference.

If you are considering counselling, please feel free to get in touch via phone or email. If I am unable to take your call, please leave a message and I will endeavour to get back to you within 24 hours.

Thank you for visiting my profile page.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
