Beatrice Perez-Barreiro BACP Accredited and Registered. BUPA/AVIVA registered.
Please note that I am currently full, but am likely to have availability from September. I can arrange an initial appointment until the end of July but will then be unavailable during August.
I have over 15 years of experience in counselling/psychotherapy for a wide range of issues, and am both Registered and Accredited with BACP. I work in Lancaster, near the boys' grammar school.
I have been a group, couples and individual therapist, as well as a teacher of counselling. Before being a counsellor I was a school teacher and musician. This means that I have experience of many issues that life can throw up. If you look at the list below, it will show you some of the subjects that I am used to working with. Mostly I have worked with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and loss in various forms.
If you are thinking of having counselling, it might be because of a temporary crisis or a long standing issue. Some people come if they feel dissatisfied but are not quite sure what the problem is. You might be very confused about why you are feeling distressed or unhappy; in this case I would work with you to try and pinpoint what the problem is. It is my job to listen below the surface and help you to see where you might be able to make changes in order to have more peace of mind. I will work with you, in a confidential way, to help you see how you can shift things so that you feel differently to how you feel now.
I work with individuals (over 18) and couples in the Lancaster area. I can offer Skype sessions, if I feel that this would be appropriate to the issue we would be working with.
I always offer an initial consultation, discounted to £10, in order to talk through what your needs might be and whether counselling may help your situation. There is no obligation to continue after this session, as it is important that you feel comfortable with the counsellor you choose to work with. In this initial session you can get a feel for whether you can imagine working with me, and you can get a flavour of the way I work. If I believe you would be better helped by a different approach I will tell you this.
I am an Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to its Ethical Framework
I also offer supervision to other counsellors.
