A safe place to be: that is what my clients say they need: a room that is welcoming and comfortable and a therapist who can hold the most difficult of traumas.
I believe that counselling is primarily about the relationship that is forged between the counsellor and client, it is about a client feeling believed in and supported within a secure relationship where it is then possible to look at the most difficult of issues.
Therapy provides the opportunity to explore issues and thus find answers that are often buried deep within, hearing your voice aloud frequently enables self-discovery that life with all its busyness so often prevents.
Surroundings are also important: I work in a private room in my garden that is light and comfortable it is on the ground level and access to it is through my garden gate: clients often have been heard to breathe a sigh of relief as they settle into one of my wide comfortable chairs. It has been described as a sanctuary.
