Misma Hemming MBACP (Registered), BSc Hons, Dip Couns
The Practice Rooms
15-16 Castle Street
I offer a safe and confidential place to talk about the challenges or issues that may be confusing, troubling, painful or uncomfortable for you.
I am a private professional counsellor working in the heart of Exeter, offering counselling to individuals. I am a Registered Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a registered trainee member of BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council) and I work within their ethics.
I am an intergrative counsellor/psychotherapist which basically means that I draw from several major schools of psychotherapeutic thoughts. I always endeavour to practice in a way that is diversity-affirmative, meaning that I will respect your own unique life choices and situations (pertaining to issues around sexuality and sexual preference, political/spiritual/religious beliefs, gender identification, ethnic background, socio-economic status etc). I very much believe in treating every client as an individual. My approach to my psychological therapy with my clients is about applying the psychological therapy to the client not vice versa, thereby creating a supportive and therapeutic space for the clients.
I offer both Time Limited (or brief) counselling to focus on a particular issue offering 8-20 session or more in-depth longer process of psychotherapy which explores in detail what influence behaviour and thought patterns processes as well as emotional experience.
I attend regular CPD (continued professional development), previous CPD courses that I have completed on the following themes: Family therapy, Couple therapy, Domestic Abuse, Sleep therapy, Trauma, Private Practice, and Identity. I engage regularly with my personal therapy too. My experiences include Charity, Private, and NHS.
I am a fully qualified, insured and registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy)and I abide by their ethical guidelines.
