Profile

I am a BACP accredited counsellor with over ten years of experience. I provide confidential, non judgemental counselling from the safe and friendly environment of the Jesmond Therapy Centre (www.jesmondtherapycentre.co.uk). The centre is easily accessible and offers free on-street parking.

I offer short or long term therapy working with: relationship difficulties; workplace stress and other stress related problems; anxiety; panic; bereavement; low mood; depression; low self-esteem and confidence issues; sexuality; physical, emotional or sexual abuse; and anger management. I also work with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using a therapy called EMDR. This therapy is recommended for people who have experienced any kind of significant life event or trauma which may still be affecting them.

Another area of my work is couple counselling covering issues such as relationship difficulties, dealing with affairs, and seperation and divorce.  I am also a Bupa Registered counsellor.  

I am the founder, director and lead therapist of the Jesmond Therapy Centre. I gained my counselling experience by working in GP's surgeries in a NHS Primary Care setting in both Newcastle and North Tyneside. I have also worked with clients from a wide range of cultural backgrounds working on cross-cultural counselling projects. I gained couple counselling experience through my work with the organisation Relate. I also have considerable experience of mentoring and supervising both counsellors and counsellors in training.

I began counselling after completing a Masters in Counselling at Durham University. Prior to completing the MA my background was in adult education. I managed a women's project and a deaf project offering advice and guidance and a wide variety of taster courses to adults. Prior to managing the projects I taught in further education colleges, adult education centres as well as teaching at both Newcastle and Northumbria University. Before my teaching career I was a Careers Advisor working for the Newcastle Career Service with adults and young people offering advice and guidance.

Individuals: £45.00 per hour

Couples: £50.00 per hour

EMDR: £60.00 per hour

Students: £35.00 per hour

I also offer private supervision to counsellors and counsellors in training. Fees for supervision are £45.00 per hour or £65.00 for 1.5 hours a month (as required by BACP). There are reduced rate for students (negotiable).
