About me

I am a qualified counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP and I subscribe to the BACP Ethical Framework to ensure a high level of service and safe practice.  I am a person centred Counsellor with over 5 years experience in client work. I am trained in the Person Centred approach, which means that I can offer counselling in any of life’s circumstances where you may need to think through and talk about your own experiences and issues. I currently work in NHS and Hospice settings, and I have experience in counselling clients in a wide variety of life situations and I have specialised in bereavement work, cancer care work and any situations where you may have experienced loss or disappointment in life. Loss and grief don’t always arise from bereavement. Feelings of loss can be present in any life circumstances, relationships, friendships, family groups, pregnancy or fertility issues, in the workplace and from within ourselves. I provide safe, individualised and caring counselling therapy and support for clients who have been affected by any of life’s changes, affected by bereavement or who are affected by a cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a person close to themselves. I work in the Cheshire area and use a room which is carefully designed to provide the best environment for the client to feel comfortable and able to share in the sessions. I provide one to one sessions on a programme which is led by the client, using a private room, by telephone or by video, or a combination of all of these.

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Masters Degree in Healthcare Ethics and Law and also a Bachelor’s undergraduate degree. I work in the NHS, the Hospice Service and the Voluntary Sector.  You as the client can expect a caring, warm approach to talking through your issues and processes using a person centred model. I offer each client the opportunity to bring their stories to the sessions and to think and talk about how they are feeling and, using the person centred approach, each client can make choices or decisions which are right for them, given the right set of circumstances. You may want a limited number of sessions to work through your feelings or a longer term arrangement where you can take more time to work out what is best for you, and how you may feel about your life, your relationships, your work or any areas of your life which are causing you concern.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
