About me

Hello!

My name is Victoria and I offer face to face, online or telephone counselling to help you increase wellbeing and live your life in a more authentic way.

You may be struggling to cope with a bereavement or relationship breakdown,  anxiety or depression may be affecting the way you live your life or maybe you just feel numb or overwhelmed and you've lost your sense of self? Simply put, if you are troubled by your thoughts and feelings, counselling can help.

My approach

First and foremost I take a person-centred approach to my work, which means I do not seek to direct you. I strive to create a warm, empathic and trusting relationship and a safe space in which you are able to mute the external voices which can impose unrealistic and damaging expectations of who we should be. My aim is that this will free you to listen to your internal voice, enabling increased self-awareness and self-compassion that helps you to make sense of your emotions and trust your inner expert.

Why me?

I bring 20+ years of HR experience so have increased understanding and empathy for how work culture can affect our mental health. Work is one of the places where we often feel the need to mask our emotions. I know I struggled to adapt in certain workplaces and it was a desire to find a role in which I could be fully genuine and support others with their wellbeing that I embarked on my counselling training.

I will work with you in a collaborative way, the initial focus will be on establishing the counselling relationship but I have an interest in creative therapy techniques and other modalities such as CBT that could be integrated into our work if appropriate.

I understand it's a daunting task figuring out which counsellor is the right fit for you so please get in touch for a free consultation and we can work this out together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
