About me

I am an experienced person-centred counsellor and work in person from a peaceful room in the Quaker Meeting House in Lewes with adults and young people. There are many reasons why you might decide to take what can feel like a big step and seek counselling. It may be that there is a current experience, situation or relationship that is feeling difficult to understand and is causing you worry and distress. There may be feelings that are more related to your past that you want to explore or you are feeling lost and unsure what direction to take in the future. In my experience some clients come to see me because they feel isolated and don’t have anyone to talk to or conversely they do have the support of family and friends but want somewhere to go where they don’t have to censor themselves for fear of worrying the people who love them – a safe, confidential place where you are free to be fully honest and feel heard and accepted.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BSc (Hons) in Person-Centred counselling from the University of Brighton and am a registered member of the BACP. I have undertaken additional training in trauma from the person-centred perspective, complex grief and bereavement and a number of workshops with the Survivors Network. I have 4 years experience of working with teenagers in a secondary school including supporting them through lockdown. I also worked as a counsellor in Emmaus a residential homelessness charity for two years with clients with complex trauma and addictions issues as well as depression, anxiety and bereavement. As well as my private practice I currently work for a low cost counselling service and see people affected by domestic violence and those who have been bereaved by suicide.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
