About us

We are a Recognised Counselling Service through NCPS and provide counselling and psychotherapy at affordable rates throughout the UK (telephone and online services) and face to face services in Colwyn Bay, Anglesey,  Chester,  Stockport and Central Manchester. We plan to add other locations in the future.  We also provide free counselling - see our website and social media posts for our current projects. 

Our team offer a range of modalities: person centred, CBT, DBT, psychoanalytical, Transactional Analysis, Brief Solutions Focused Therapy, EFT, and specialist trauma services including EMDR and Rewind.  

We offer low cost sessions for clients, on an unlimited basis dependent upon therapist availability, as well as a choice of therapists.

In addition to our low cost clinic, we offer standard fee sessions to clients along with specialist trauma services, EMDR and other specialist interventions.

We have nearly 50 therapists, using different modalities and approaches, with  therapists who speak at events and conferences nationally and internationally,  We have an impressive collection of experience and specialist knowledge.

We also have supervisors and trainers who offer various training in subjects such as trauma, managing conflict, mental health and wellbeing, and professional services, such as clinical supervision, occupational therapy, coaching and critical incident support.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

We offer trauma therapies.   All Thrive therapists and students undertake a 5 day training course in trauma, in addition to their professional studies.   

Our trauma specialists have over five years clinical experience; some have a lot more.

Self selection of fees - this may mean certain therapists will not be available to you. 

We offer low cost services, provided by our team of therapists, as well as specialised services, such as trauma therapy, with highly experienced practitioners, who have at least 5 years of clinical experience, some have over 20 years of clinical experience.

We have nearly 50 therapists & students here at Thrive Counselling, so we can generally meet your requirements in terms of days/times. 

At present there is no waiting list for counselling.

We run a low cost service which offers unlimited sessions in blocks of 6, with fees starting at £15.00 in North Wales and £25 in Manchester and Stockport..  

We also have a standard fee service, with highly experienced therapists with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience, who can see you from £37.50-75 per hour. 

We also have trauma specialists, who are highly experienced and qualified, including EMDR and Rewind services. 

We have children & young people psychotherapists and counsellors, who are trained and fully qualified to work with 3-18 year olds.

If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.
