Child & Family Therapy - Adult Therapy - Couples Therapy

About us

TTC is a group of skilled, experienced clinicians who have come together to be able to offer a team with a huge range of expertise to the children, adults, and families that come to us.

Each of us has different training and approaches, but we all hold several values in common; we are all relational in approach, we care passionately about the work we do, and we work incredibly hard on behalf of the clients who come to us.

The TTC organisation cares for both the clients that come to us, and the therapists that we work with, and provides a containing framework for all the work that takes place in our clinics. All calls are answered by a qualified, experienced clinician who thinks carefully with clients about the best therapist to work with them, or puts together a careful treatment plan for those with more complex needs.

We have many therapists working with us, but would like to profile the following therapists this month:

asset_69cd0d5ab5266.png Lucy Astor

Lucy is a vastly experienced, thoughtful and mature psychotherapist.  She is trained to work with:

  • Children
  • Adolescents
  • Adults
  • Parents

She brings different aspects of herself to each of these areas of work.

Lucy’s calm, friendly approach is based on her belief that everyone has stages or times in their life when they need help. Through gaining an understanding of her client’s individual circumstances, she enables them to appreciate their strengths, talents and enthusiasms as well as exploring past and present obstacles to developing their unique potential.

Lucy customises her treatment for individual clients and families. With children, she uses a non-intrusive, respectful blend of play, arts and conversation. Her integrative training allows her to access a broad range of theories and techniques. Her main influences include Bowlby, Winnicott and C G Jung.

Zuzana Camm

Zuzana is an Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and a DIRFloortime® Expert Training Leader (icdl.com) with background in therapeutic education and play work.  She offers DIRFloortime® informed psychotherapy and therapeutic play consultations to families with children with autism, attachment difficulties and conditions related to trauma.

Zuzana's Experience Includes:

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Psychotherapy Support for Non-Verbal Children
  • Delay in Development of Social and Emotional Skills

Kamal Lock

Kamal is an adult therapist with a soulful approach to thinking about his clients.  He is a warm, relationship therapist who is able to make a space feel safe and held.

Kamal honouring the whole person in his work by integrating and giving meaning to difficult experiences. This approach acknowledges that we are all complex, multifaceted beings possessing unique qualities that connect us to the environment and our inner world. Working within an integrative framework in therapy enables Kamal to address a wide range of psychological issues that may hinder a client's authentic self-expression. This method combines various therapeutic modalities and theories, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of the client's experiences and challenges. Here’s how this approach can be beneficial in working with specific issues:

Kamal is experienced in working with:

  • Trauma
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship issues
  • Life transitions and
  • Issues related to identity

He is also a neurodiversity affirming psychotherapist working with those who identify as autistic, dyslexic or who have ADHD. Major life transitions can have a profound impact on an individual's psychological and emotional state. This can lead to what is described as an "involuntary existential review". This means that individuals find themselves reflecting on their past experiences, values, and beliefs, especially when they reach a point where their previous ways of living no longer feel suitable or fulfilling.

Liat Hoch

Liat endeavours to connect with each person she works with in order to encourage them to feel safe in expressing their thoughts and feelings both verbally and through creative means such as art, using the sand-tray, play, music and drama. In this way the underlying reasons behind the initial reason for referral can be understood and processed.

Liat thinks systemically about the clients she works with, and when the work requires it, she enjoys working together with her TTC colleagues, school staff members and statutory services in order to increase the support for the young person beyond the therapy sessions. Liat also holds in mind the young person’s place in their family, school and community system and the forces and dynamics that play a role in their feelings and behaviour. Where possible, Liat works with family members in a way that each member has a place to speak, and she works really hard to help them hear each other so that the system can support the change that the young person wants to make.

Liat has experience of working with a wide range of mental health issues, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • OCD
  • Self-harm

She has supported young people in managing difficult living situations, for example:

  • Divorce
  • Domestic violence
  • Parental substance misuse
  • Mental illness
  • Bereavement
  • Bullying

Liat works with young people who have learning needs or social and communication difficulties (ASD) to increase emotional awareness, regulation and enable closer relationships. Liat also enjoys working with young adults who are transitioning between school and university or university and work, as these can often be difficult to manage in the beginning.

Liat’s outlook is that childhood is a process of discovering and creating who we want to be within the best of our abilities and external limitations in order to walk our chosen path. She views her role as a psychotherapist is to provide a safe physical and psychological space in order to express, try out and refine the goal while reducing and healing the barriers on the way.

Training, qualifications & experience

TTC has taken the uncertainty out of finding a therapist.  We have ensured that all clinicians working with us are trained to the highest level available in their profession.  We all have regularly updated criminal record checks and all those that work with children have regularly updated training in safeguarding procedures.

All psychotherapists have master's level training and are registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists (UKCP). All our child psychotherapists are registered with either the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) or the UKCP. Our psychiatrists are consultant-level psychiatrists registered with the General Medical Council.

Across the whole team, we have a huge amount of expertise in most areas. We can work carefully with most issues and presentations, including complex situations which might need specialist expertise and/or a team to work together.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACP
Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP)

The ACP is the registering body for NHS trained Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists. ACP members undergo a minimum 6 year training; two years at Masters level then 4 years full-time clinical in the NHS qualifying in a Doctorate Level course. Full members are able to work with neonates, mothers & babies, parents & toddlers, primary school age children & adolescents. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
