About me
About Me
I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist based in York and online. I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have worked across a range of settings, including the NHS, education, a women’s counselling centre, and a trauma-focused psychotherapy service. I’ve been in private practice since 2018.
People come to therapy for many reasons, whether to process painful experiences, navigate difficult emotions, or gain clarity during times of change. Therapy offers a supportive space to make sense of what you’re carrying and to move toward greater understanding, ease, and self-connection.
I work integratively, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to your individual needs. My training includes humanistic and person-centred approaches, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and yoga and mindfulness-based practices. I offer both traditional talking therapy and can support you in developing body-based methods that support nervous system regulation and embodied awareness.
My work is grounded in intersectional feminist psychology, which recognises that our emotional lives are shaped not only by personal experiences, but also by broader cultural, social, historical and structural contexts, such as race and racialisation, gender, dis/ability and class. I aim to create a space where all parts of your identity are welcomed and held with care.
Areas of Specialism
Since 2016, I have primarily worked with people processing trauma, PTSD, and the ongoing impact of distressing life events. I support clients to explore the emotional, relational, and bodily effects of trauma, and to develop tools for grounding, resilience, and integration.
I have particular expertise and interests in:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Body image, body concerns and embodiment
- Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
- Difficult relationship patterns (you might be thinking 'why does this keep happening...?'
- The impact of domestic abuse or gender-based violence
- Identity, belonging, and self-worth
- Neurodivergence
I bring a compassionate, collaborative, and power-aware approach to this work, attuned to both psychological and social dimensions of healing.
In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I am a lecturer in Psychology and Counselling at the Open University. My research explores intersectional approaches to trauma, violence, and eating disorders, with a focus on epistemic justice, social inequality, and feminist psychological theory. I have written and published work (books and journal articles) on these topics.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
