About me

Hi, I’m Tamsin and I’m a qualified integrative counsellor with experience working with a diverse range of clients both adults and children. I have a long-standing interest in mental health from studying psychology at university.

After raising my own 3 children and working at a local primary school, I was inspired to gain further qualifications and experience in supporting people with their mental health issues and empowering them to move towards new pathways.

I offer a genuine, warm and flexible approach to work with you in a way most beneficial and suitable for your own needs. I work from a person-centred foundation but may introduce other therapeutic approaches to help you gain further awareness and achieve the change you are hoping for.

I work on a one-to-one basis from my tranquil counselling room in Stow-on-the-Wold. There is an option to use the beautiful outside space if being closer to nature offers you a more comfortable environment.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (BACP accredited course)
  • BA (Hons) Psychology and Management studies

I have trained as a bereavement counsellor at Myton Hospice in Warwick and currently work as a counsellor for Campden Home Nursing. I also work for a national  charity as a counsellor supporting adults and young people whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse.

The issues I work with include bereavement and loss, life stage transitions, domestic abuse, anxiety, low mood, self-esteem and relationship issues. You may not always have a specific reason for coming to counselling and maybe just feel that you are on the wrong path and are seeking some support to explore what direction you may want to take, what barriers may be in your way and how you may move towards the change you are looking for.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) - register number 395794. I am also fully insured and am committed to continued professional development to support my clients in the best way possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer a free initial chat, either on the phone or face to face, to give you the opportunity to briefly explain why you are seeking counselling and for you to ask any questions you may have. I fully appreciate that coming to counselling can feel very unfamiliar and daunting so it is important that you feel comfortable and you can connect with your counsellor.
